Bringing Stump to the masses since August 2003 Last Updated December 2 2007

Stump is alive and well in Japan.
Tricks

Adding a trick to the hammer toss can add flare and excitement to the game. If successful, the opponent whose nail has been struck must drink proportionately to the difficulty, beauty, or originality of the trick. Apart from the standard tricks - under the leg, around the back - here are a few more ideas...

Mid-Toss Fart. Toss the hammer, fart loudly, catch the hammer, and bring down the wrath.

The Beer Switch. Start with the hammer in your left hand and your beer in your right hand. Toss the hammer, then quickly switch the beer to your left hand, catch the hammer with your right hand, and bring down the wrath. Under the Leg Beer Switch, Double Beer Switch Double-Toss, Double Beer Switch Around the Back to Under the Leg Double-Mid-Toss Fart, etc.

The Beer-Open Double-Toss. Toss the hammer once, catch it, quickly use the claw to open your beer, then toss the hammer again and bring down the wrath.

Reverse Under the Leg Switch. Throw the hammer with your left hand under your right leg, in the opposite direction from the stump. Catch the hammer with your right hand behind your back and bring down the wrath.

Juggler's Delight. Start by juggling two balls and the hammer. Then quickly catch the two balls in your left hand, catch the hammer in your right hand, and bring down the wrath.

Juggler's Wrath. Start by juggling three hammers. Let one hammer fall to the ground, catch the other two, one in each hand, then simultaneously bring down double wrath on two opponents' nails. Note: The use of two hammers on a single turn will almost certainly meet with resistance from opponents, so better make this trick look damn good lest it be prohibited. Considered very dangerous.

The Hammer Hack. Stall the base of the hammer on the top of your foot like a hackey sack. Flip the hammer up with your foot such that it does a full rotation, then catch it and bring down the wrath.

The Drive-by. Start some distance away from the stump, say fifty feet. Approach the stump at a full sprint, timing your toss such that you bring down the wrath just as you reach the stump. Continue running full speed several steps past the stump for full effect.

Skateboard Drive-by. Same as The Drive-by but performed on a skateboard.

The Polo Joust. Same as The Drive-by but performed on a bicycle or motorbike.
